How to Find the Right Motorcycle

If an exhilarating life on two wheels is calling your name, you’re probably thinking about buying a motorcycle. The decision to invest in a motorcycle is a big one, and it’s one that should be made with care. Before you rush out and buy the first bike that catches your eye, there are a few things you should take into consideration. Here are some things to think about if you want to find a motorcycle that’s just right for you.

Skill Level

If you don’t have much experience riding motorcycles, be open and honest with yourself about what you can and cannot handle. A high performance bike is typically not recommended for beginners. Safety should be of the utmost importance, and if you’re not completely comfortable riding, a motorcycle with a powerful engine probably isn’t the best choice for you. On the other hand, if you’ve ridden for a long… Read more »

Work at home moms need to bribe their kids to stay quiet sometimes. I’ve done this before and I have no qualms about doing it again.

My husband has a kid-free zone when he is at work. No interruptions for him. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me if he goes around interrupting other people at work; he’s an affable and social kind of guy.

For all you moms that work from home, you know how difficult it can be—especially if the kids are at home—to find the peace and quiet you need sometimes to finish of a piece of work or, God forbid, take part in a conference call. Thank goodness for the mute button on my Logitech headset!

It does not look too cool when you are in a global conference call with a group of 4 to 5 people and your 1-year-old comes up to you… Read more »

Whether you currently carry life insurance or you’re considering buying it, there are a few really important things that you need to know about your situation in order to find the plan that’s right for you. It’s not always easy to know what to look for, or even what to expect from insurance shopping.

1. Do You Need Life Insurance?

This is obviously the first question any person should ask themselves when considering their insurance plan. If you aren’t currently in a place where children or dependents rely on your influence to stay afloat, you may want to hold off on buying insurance. Alternately, some people disagree stating that insurance is the least expensive when you’re young. It comes down to… Read more »

Foods that Help Control Diabetes

There are no magic foods that help cure, or stop, diabetes; but certain lifestyle changes can help prevent and control the disease. A general rule of thumb is to stick to foods that are low in calories and high in fiber, as well as watching your sugar and sodium intake. Here is a list of foods that can help control sugar levels and offset the chance of diabetes-related complications.

1. Cinnamon

A recent study found that people who consumed at least 1 gram (1/5 teaspoon) of cinnamon had lower blood glucose levels than those who didn’t consume the spice, and the study also found that it helped lower triglycerides and LDL cholesterol levels. Cinnamon can be found in capsule form, but can also be sprinkled on oatmeal, toast, cereal, coffee, tea, or cocoa.

2. Oatmeal

Although carbohydrates are normally considered a no-no for diabetics, plain oatmeal is a great choice as it contains a… Read more »

Man has had a love affair with cars since their inception. Curious people brought their entire families to see the horseless marvel and would dream of riding into the sunset in their own car, never knowing how this would soon change their life. The fondness continued as cars evolved and more thought went into the design to incorporate sleek lines and stunning accessories, which resulted in more beautiful, convenient, faster autos.

If you were lucky enough to own a car you wanted it to look beautiful at all times. This was sometimes difficult, as there were no paved roads, so cars drove on streets of dirt, which caused the cars to get covered with dust and mud. People took great pains to make sure the car always looked spiffy.  The car was washed frequently—a bucket of soap water, some rags and a lot of work: scrubbing, rinsing, drying… Read more »
