To My Congressmen: I do not want Cut, Cap, and Balance. That is not what I mean when I say that I want the federal government to make cuts.

Cut: Going through the motions. Let me guess: like always, you will cut just enough so you feel like you have bragging rights, but not enough to make a real difference.

Cap: A higher spending limit. Big deal. The next Congress will just raise it again when it gets close! Hello: it has happened 10 times in the last 10 years. Do you really expect us to believe that this time will be any different?

Balance: If you want a balanced budget amendment, go for it. But it doesn’t have to be tied to “Cut and Cap.” You have the power to balance the budget right now, without an amendment. All you have to do is refuse to vote “yes” to raise the debt ceiling, and the budget will be balanced immediately.

Stop feeding us bull and trying to make “Cut, Cap, and Balance” sound like a good thing. You are selling Americans out! You have already won on the balanced budget front, if that’s what you really want. All you have to do is band together with the rest of the Republicans and vote “no” to raising the debt ceiling.

To do any differently just proves one thing: Republicans don’t want a balanced budget any more than the Democrats do. You just want to SPEND, SPEND, SPEND. The only real difference between the Republicans and Democrats is that they spend money on different things. It’s time to put a stop to it.
