<p>Pregnant women have to take special precautions to accommodate their changing size and physical needs. A woman who is six months pregnant can’t run a marathon in the middle of a summer day in the desert, nor can she safely play a game of football. These things may seem obvious, but there are a few other guidelines that may not seem as obvious:</p>
<ul>
<li>Avoid jerky or bouncy movements. Pregnancy hormones relax joints and ligaments, making it easier for you to pull or sprain something if you do it too quickly or stretch into it too deeply. Avoid high-impact aerobics or spirited dance routines.</li>
<li>Don’t become over heated. Intense exercise can cause your body to become over heated very quickly, putting your baby at risk. Be sure to drink plenty of water (far more than you ever needed to before) and to keep your heart rate at a low level.</li>
<li>Mind your center of gravity. As your body grows, your center of gravity will change. It will become easier for you to lose your balance, which can be dangerous for the baby. Avoid activities such as cycling or rollerblading.</li>
<li>Don’t lie on your back. Floor exercises or weight lifting routines that require you to lie on your back could cause your abdomen to put pressure on a blood vessel that runs through your pelvis. If you must lie down, do so on your side.</li>
</ul>
<p>Many exercises are safe for pregnancy, including low-impact options such as walking, cycling on a stationary bike, swimming, or water aerobics. If you did not exercise before you got pregnant, or if you haven’t exercised in a while (thanks to fatigue and nausea), start slowly with only a few minutes a day, then build up to 30 minutes. Don’t allow your heart rate to become too elevated – your heart is already working hard to accommodate the extra blood volume, and allowing your heart rate to go too high will increase your chances of becoming faint or dizzy. If you are ever unsure about your level of exertion, try talking to a friend while you’re exercising. If you’re too out of breath to carry on a conversation comfortably, you’re working too hard.</p>

<p>By the time you reach the 5<sup>th</sup> week of the program, you are now in your “Recovery Week,” and this includes the 6 days straight workout, which is known as the Balance and Core Cardio. &nbsp;However, do not think because it says recovery that the workouts will be easier. &nbsp;They are not easy, although they are lighter than your regular workouts. You will enjoy this week because you are in the hardcore stage with the Insanity program.</p>
<p>During your 2<sup>nd</sup> month in the program, your workouts will now include Max Cardio Conditioning like Max Circuit, Max Recovery and Max Intervals, as well as Cardio Abs. These workouts have a longer duration, which is from 50 to 60 minutes with hardcore workouts and amazing intensity. During your first round, you will be able to lose some weight and you will definitely notice the difference. Although you will be able to lose weight during the 1<sup>st</sup> month too, more weight will be lost when you reach the 2<sup>nd</sup> month.</p>
<p>If you really want to succeed in this program, you should make yourself committed not just to the fitness program but also to the nutritional guide that comes with the Insanity program. &nbsp;The nutritional guide allows you to consume foods with higher carbohydrates compared to the nutritional plan of the P90X program, and you will be able to eat almost anything you want. <p>I was able to slow down the spread of the ‘mid-winter bulge’ while at the same time recruiting my bike into doing double-duty. Not having another space-occupying piece of exercising equipment cluttering up the house is an advantage of having an easily stored bike trainer rather than a full-blown exercise bike.</p>
<h2>But Which Trainer to Buy?</h2>
<p><img src="http://infobonanza.com/wp-content/uploads/bicycle-trainer.jpg" alt="Bicycle Trainer" title="Bicycle Trainer" width="252" height="200" class="alignright size-full wp-image-13913" /><strong>Wind Trainers:</strong> If you’re not very serious about cycling and will only use a bike trainer sporadically, a simple wind trainer may be plenty adequate.  Their simplicity makes them very reliable, but they do have their shortcomings.  </p>
<p>For one, these can be pretty noisy.  There are many tales of living rooms being cleared of annoyed family members when a wind trainer gets roaring.</p>
<p>Secondly, they’re not very ‘powerful’.  Of course bike trainers don’t produce power (that’s your job), but they do provide resistance.  A wind trainer’s ability to produce resistance is limited to how much air it can grab with its impeller.  If your exercise needs don&#8217;t include periodic hard-core pedaling, a wind trainer will do.</p>
<p><strong>Mag (magnetic) Trainers:</strong>  Mag trainers work by spinning a flywheel through a magnetic field.  The concept is called &#8220;Eddy current braking,&#8221; and while it isn’t very important that you know that term, I threw it in to make myself look like a big shot.</p>
<p>It used to be that mag trainers weren’t worth their weight in steel.  All of that has changed now that a few high quality companies have gotten into the mag trainer market.</p>
<p>The Cycleops company produces their <a target="_blank" href="http://cycling-review.com/accessories/bicycle-trainer/cycleops-magneto-bike-trainer-review/">Magneto bike trainer</a>, and the word out on the street is that the Kurt Kinetic company is ready to launch a mag trainer in a few months.  Kurt Kinetic always produce high quality products, so I’m anxious to see what they’ve come up with.</p>
<p>Mag trainers are a bit quieter than wind trainers and the high-end models can provide plenty of resistance.</p>
<p><img src="http://infobonanza.com/wp-content/uploads/bike-trainer-image-300x239.jpg" alt="Bike Trainer Image" title="Bike Trainer Image" width="300" height="239" class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-13915" /><strong>Fluid Trainers:</strong>  In the eyes of many serious cyclists, fluid trainers provide the most ‘realistic’ ride.  What they’re trying to communicate is that, of the three types, riding a fluid trainer is the most similar to outdoor riding.</p>
<p>But the Achilles heel of fluid trainers has been their tendency to start leaking once the seals fail.  Because the temperatures in the fluid-filled chamber can reach nearly 400 degrees, it’s just a matter of time before there is a leakage problem.</p>
<p>At least that’s how it used to be.</p>
<p>When the Kurt Kinetic company introduced their fluid trainer (which has morphed into the <a target="_blank" href="http://cycling-review.com/accessories/bicycle-trainer/kurt-kinetic-road-trainer/">Kurt Kinetic Road Machine</a>), they nipped the leakage problem in the bud.  They engineered a trainer in which the impeller in the fluid-filled chamber is isolated from the flywheel.  But through the miracle of magnetic bonding, the flywheel and the impeller rotate in tandem.</p>
<p>It’s a simple, ingenious design&mdash;and because of it the Kurt Kinetic fluid trainers dominate the fluid bike trainer marketplace.</p>
<h2>Match Yourself to a Bike Trainer and Stay in Shape</h2>
<p>No matter what your fitness level, you’ll no doubt benefit from the use of a bike trainer.  When the weather outside is frightful&mdash;or when you simply don’t feel like getting ready to go to the gym for a workout, attach the rear wheel of your bike to a trainer.</p>
<p>I know that my trainer is the main gun in my winter fitness arsenal.</p>

<p>On the other hand, Insanity is shorter in duration. It only takes two months to accomplish where the second month is more intense than the first. The exercises for this routine involve cardio exercises, calisthenics, plyometrics, and sports drills.  It also has a one-week recovery phase to relax the muscles from the intensity of the routine. The advantage of this routine is that it does not require weights or similar instruments. It completely depends on body workouts to deliver its results. However, this is not ideal for people who do not have previous workout training. This is because it directly starts with intense workout.</p>
<p>At the end of the day, the answer for the comparison of Insanity vs. P90X still depends on the individual who wants to do either of the exercises. Personally, although they can potentially be the most challenging and stressful, these core exercises I feel are solid core exercises, which specifically work the lower abdominal area, which tends to be where people burn fat the least.</p>
<p>These are effective abdominal exercises for post-partum women, stomach exercises for women as well as <a target="_blank" href="http://knowmybody.com/3-easy-stomach-exercises/" target="_blank">stomach exercises for men</a> who are looking to burn off those beer bellies.</p>
<p>So get off that couch and get down on the floor:</p>
<p><strong>Scissor Kicks</strong></p>
<p>Personally, scissor kick exercises are the most challenging of the three core abdominal exercises. Lie flat on your back, keeping your arms and hands flat on the ground.  Raise your right leg into the air perpendicular to your torso while extending out straight your left leg, barely raised above the floor.</p>
<p>After every four counts, swap to your other leg for 25 times, by staying in this position will you feel the muscles in your lower abdominal region begin to stretch.  Preferably, include 1-3 sets of these exercises during your core workout, keeping in mind on how many other exercises are included in your workout.</p>
<p><strong>Hip Raises</strong></p>
<p>Just like in Scissor Kicks, you are laying flat on your back with your arms and hands on the ground. Parallel with your body, extend your legs out and make a diamond shape.  The soles of your feet should be adjacent to each other, while your knees should be flexed away from each other.</p>
<p>Raise your legs perpendicular to your body. While extending both legs, raise your hips up into the air.  You can even use your hands to help push your lower body up into the air.  Lower your legs again, parallel to your body and do a total of 25 repetitions for 3 sets.</p>
<p><strong>Pulse Ups </strong></p>
<p>Again, stay flat on your back and assume the same position like in the hip raises.  Extend both legs perpendicular from your body similar to Scissor Kicks, but both legs are parallel to each other. Flex the feet so that you feel more tension in your calves and even your core.</p>
<p>Slightly flex the knees while keeping your feet in the air and even with your waist.  The bend may last for a 1 or 2 counts and then straighten your legs again.  You want to be careful not to bend your knees too far like you would during Hip Raises. Do a total of 25 repetitions and 3 sets.</p>
<p>The main key point in Pulse ups is more about speed while keeping your form.</p>
<p><strong>Some Final Thoughts</strong></p>
<p>As much as possible, don’t take long breaks in between sets. Preferably no more than 10-15 seconds.</p>
<p>Though there is nothing wrong with taking longer breaks if your body requires it.</p>
<p>Recognizing your body’s limits will benefit you each time you do core exercises.</p>
<p>Ideally you should perform these stomach exercises 2 to 3 times in a week. While some of our more enthusiastic readers will attempt to do this on a daily basis, I have no qualms with that either way, but you may also want to give your muscles some time to recuperate after each workout so that they have time to continue growing stronger in the long term.  Alternating between different muscle groups will also enhance your overall endurance.</p>
<p>Like any workout, this is a long term habit.  Don’t get frustrated if you don’t see any instantaneous results. Even under layers of fat, your muscles can be developing powerfully – So for best results, couple your workouts with a healthy lifestyle diet to burn off those unnecessary pounds. <p>There are a wide variety of cardiovascular exercises, and it is not hard to find some that are fun and exciting to participate in.
