There are virtues to be had by starting at the bottom in a company. While we all hope to start out in the CEO suite, it rarely happens that way. Do not feel bad if you are in the mail room (either literally or figuratively) at this time. There is no place to go but up.

Management trainees and junior executives are expected to be novices to some degree. This is the perfect opportunity for job and career growth. Here’s why you should be glad you are where you are in the company:

We don’t know what we don’t know. Starting at the bottom of the corporate ladder enables you to acquire knowledge of necessary procedures and policies, without having holes in your understanding.

You need to be prepared. Corporate America can be a battle ground as people seek to advance and move forward at the expense of everyone else. You need a broad base of understanding before you start fighting that fight.

Questions matter. Being in a position of minimal responsibility will allow you to ask questions and to learn without embarrassment. Take advantage of this opportunity. Only the smart guys ask questions.

Learn the details. There is a large amount of institutional knowledge that is not written down anywhere. Talk to the old geezers (the people who have been with the company for a long time) and learn from them. It could come in handy some day.

It all takes time. The story of Federal Express started with the company burning through some eighty million dollars of start up money before the company took off. It can be that way for individuals, too. Don’t be disconcerted if your initial wages are not what you desire in the long term. It’ll happen.

Having a great attitude, in summary, will take you a long way. This is what is required as you move back into the real world as part of your substance abuse recovery.

The advice given is a form of encouragement for people to stay clean and sober. Most people do not realize that even when people have kicked a bad habit, they are prone to relapse. This is only a small setback, but it can get so bad that the old habit gets stronger and harder to deal with.

The website has great advice on learning how to cope with stress that comes with everyday life. Instead of turning to drugs in order to relax, there are many relaxation techniques that include exercises such as Yoga and meditation. These exercises can help people look at their life in a different way. Sometimes changing the focus or a person’s point of view can make a life-altering difference.

This is why the website is important. It is a way for families to help addicts recover and for addicts to help themselves. The road to recovery is hard, but it is easier when there is a whole lot of motivation and where there are people who care for the individual.

Going on an alcohol binge with your friends or colleagues might seem like a fun idea, but you might not think it’s so good if you knew the actual effect that alcohol has on the human body. Drinking alcohol has been a part of human culture for as long as recorded history, but drinking should always be done with temperance. Excessive drinking within a short span of time beyond what your body can process could result in a serious medical condition known as alcohol poisoning. Acute alcohol intoxication or alcohol poisoning could eventually turn fatal if the individual does not receive prompt professional medical attention.

Regarding alcohol and blood pressure, whether it comes as a long-term or a short-term effect of drinking alcohol, blood pressure problems are a common result of excessive alcohol drinking. Alcohol affects the central nervous system, which is responsible for many of the important bodily functions including breathing, heartbeat and the gag reflex. Since alcohol poisoning could result in loss of consciousness, the individual could expire from choking if his airway becomes blocked. Death could also result out of slow, irregular breathing during sleep, which might lead to total stoppage of the breathing function. A person who is suspected of being afflicted with alcohol poisoning and who falls asleep should receive medical attention at once. The blood alcohol level will continue to rise even while the person is unconscious because alcohol continues to be released into the bloodstream. Another common cause of death due to alcohol poisoning is the individual choking on his own vomit due to loss of control of the gag reflex.

Rising blood pressure may also be a result of a medical condition resulting out of long-term chronic alcohol abuse known as alcohol withdrawal syndrome. Approximately 90% of all alcoholics experience some symptoms of alcohol withdrawal.

The ups and downs of everyday life and the constant chaos that comes with them are emotionally draining on even the strongest of people. Most individuals that suffer from alcohol addiction are not willing to get themselves into an alcohol treatment program on their own. Many times it takes hitting a severe rock bottom before anyone takes the steps to have change happen.

One form of hitting rock bottom is a forced change and this is known as an intervention. How this works is the person suffering from the alcohol addiction is brought to a location filled with all their family members, loved ones and friends. All of these people are there for the good of the sick person and not to bully them or threaten them. They simply read the letters that they wrote on how that person’s disease has affected them in a negative fashion and put a bottom line down if they do not get themselves into one of the alcohol treatment centers recommended by their friends and family for help. The friends and family need to be strong and follow up on the consequences if the alcoholic does not agree to get help.

If the sick member of the family does agree to go to one of the alcohol treatment programs, the people that staged the intervention have typically already been in contact with an alcoholism treatment center and has a spot reserved. The key is to get the addicted person to go immediately and not to allow time for the person to change his or her mind about getting help. Usually they will go straight from the intervention to the alcoholism treatment which is typically quite a distance away from where everyone lives. This relocation is to allow separation to a degree that the alcoholic does not see it as easy just to walk out and go home to drink. If they are completely out of their normal abuse environment there is a better chance for success.

So where does that leave the all the family and friends who staged the intervention? Well in many cases they have a little homework to do on their own. People suffering from addiction will often have turned those around them into enablers so they may be in need of an alcoholism treatment program that is aimed at the people who assisted the addicted person. These programs don’t focus on the drinking part they focus on the to strengthen someone so they no longer help a person become self-destructive. They learn to put up boundaries in order show the alcoholic that they love them but will not have this type of destruction in their life. There are many forms of drug and alcohol treatment centers available for all of those people who are affected negatively by alcohol.

In order to protect yourself, your family, and acquaintances as well as the countless strangers that are merely driving on the road, buy a breathalyzer in order to check BAC. Higher than usual blood alcohol content has a tremendous impact on your body, both mentally as well as physically. Having a method to test your personal BAC as well as that of the people near you can help prevent tragic situations.

Breathalyzers are manufactured for both individual and commercial use. Both types are able to accurately measure the blood alcohol content but use different techniques to do so. The personal breathalyzer utilizes a semiconductor oxide sensor while the professional breathalyzer uses a fuel cell sensor. As long as you are using an FDA approved breathalyzer, you can be confident it has been tested as accurate and safe for personal operation. The Alcohawk Slim Breathalyzer is one of the most popular personal breathalyzers on the market.

A big difference is that the professional versions of these breathalyzers won’t show an inaccurate positive if used on a diabetic or someone following a low calorie diet. On the other hand, if you’re using a personal breathalyzer in these situations you are at risk for a false positive. One other factor that sets the two types of breathalyzers apart is the consistency they show in producing precise readings on people who have elevated blood pressure. This reliability will continue for many tests with no maintenance of the unit needed.

At home breathalyzer test results are displayed up to the second decimal point while professional ones will show results to the third which is a more accurate result. Whereas this may be imperative for legal purposes, having the home breathalyzer result is perfectly fine for deciding whether to pick up the car keys or call a taxi, since no safe driver would ever call it that close and would prefer to pay for a taxicab rather than a DUI – or worse.

Costs for personal breathalyzers range from just below $200 while professional breathalyzers that are used more often than not by companies, clinics, police and substance abuse centers begin at approximately $450. You can get a wide assortment of either type of breathalyzer online, and you will usually find the best deals at one of the sites focusing on breathalyzer reviews.

[ReviewAZON asin="0761515178" display="inlinepost"]Many struggling drug addicts and alcoholics wonder if they should attend a religious treatment center or just stick with a traditional rehab. In some cases, the person may not have the insurance or the funding resources to be able to choose, and sometimes the only thing left available to them is a religious-based rehab or shelter. In a case like this, the addict may find that a Christian treatment center can help them even if they are not religious.

There are some advantages to a Christian treatment center over other forms of treatment. For one thing, there is going to be more of a common bond among the participants in that they are all practicing the same religion, thus increasing their personal connection and increasing the level of recovery intimacy. It may sound a bit silly at first, but the connection that you make with your peers in recovery can be of a life-saving nature. If you do not ask for help from other people in early recovery, then you are not likely to succeed. So having a religious affiliation with others can be of help in some situations.

Now how does this differ from state funded rehab? Well in a state-funded facility, it is much more likely that they will use a recovery program that is based on the 12 steps rather than a religious based program. This is a critical difference and many people think of the 12 step program as being traditional recovery.

Is there a huge difference in the success rates? Not necessarily, though neither type of treatment has been proven to have a significant edge over the others. Some would even argue that the 12 step program has strong religious overtones to it anyhow, and is essentially a religion of its own in some ways. Regardless, these two opportunities should present a solution for the struggling addict if they are open to try to recover using one of the two paths.

There are many people in the world suffering from addictions to drugs, alcohol, gambling, dieting, food, sex, shopping, etc. Thankfully, there are many addiction recovery strategies to help cope with an addiction with help from your family, doctors and support from those who have been or are currently in your shoes.

Another method is a holistic approach which can include acupuncture, hypnosis, meditation, herbal therapy, animal therapy, aromatherapy, bioelectricity and yoga.

If you have considered checking yourself into a rehabilitation clinic for residential treatment to help cope with your addiction then you are on the right path. Rehabilitation clinics specialize in treating the whole condition, not just the symptoms. Many rehabs offer 12-step programs as well as other treatments which include detox, family therapy, group therapy, relapse prevention, cognitive-behavioral techniques, psychodrama and stress management strategies. There is no specified time limit you will be in residential treatment; it all depends on your progress and what you feel comfortable with.

After graduation from a rehabilitation clinic you can opt to do day treatments, intensive outpatient treatment or enroll yourself in a sober living structured home. Recovering from addiction is a lifelong process that continues after you leave rehab.

After your rehabilitation you will need to seek counseling and continue making the effort to stay clean. In order to fully recover from any addiction you must first admit that you have a problem. Denial will get you nowhere and you will continue down a bad path. You must be able to talk openly about your problems and what you feel is causing the addiction. Lastly, make a promise to yourself that you will no longer let the addiction run your life.
