According to a new study, treating high blood pressure or any other heart condition can prevent the progression of Alzheimer’s disease by 39%.
As shown in recent studies on animals, the vascular risk factor plays a huge role in the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. The study was done by Professor Yan-Jian Wang MD of the Third Military Medical University in China.
It is still unsure that this risk factor causes Alzheimer’s in humans, but the study does provide evidence to support the idea that treating high blood pressure could play a huge role in the development of Alzheimer’s disease in humans.
What methods can you take to start treating high blood pressure or what preventive action could you take? Well, a good source of Omega-3 has been proven to prevent and reduce high blood pressure. Omega-3 can be found in only a few food sources, mostly in fish or shellfish.
Many people have tried taking fish oil to help with joint pains and improve heart health but the one downside of taking fish oil is the after taste and the “fishy” smell. This is the #1 reason why an alternative to fish oil is krill oil.
Krill are basically small crustaceans that are abundant in the sea. Whales and many other deep-sea mammals depend on krill as their food source. Krill oil is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids and is believed to be a better source of Omega-3 than fish oil.
Krill oil benefits are very similar to those of fish oil in reducing inflammations, improving brain function and memory retention and also anything to do with your heart. Research also shows that daily consumption of Omega-3 will help boost your immune system and keep you from getting sick easily.
The most popular krill oil supplement is a brand called Mega Red Krill Oil which can be found in almost any supermarket. You’ll find them next to the multivitamins in the health aisle.
