When we think of exterior paint, we often think of sturdy, black or white paint used to patch up some fencing or cover up rust. However, exterior paint is not just about aesthetics, and there are certain types on the market that have a decidedly more functional purpose.

Paving Sealer

Brickwork and paving slabs can be extremely porous, leaving them exposed to damage from the elements and deep, irrevocable staining if something is spilled on them. However, they are used first and foremost for their attractiveness, so you’ll want to protect them without changing the aesthetic. Solar Reflective Paint

Rooms with a ceiling directly attached to an outside roof can often become extremely hot, with the sun beating down on the roof and causing the room below to effectively display the same characteristics of a greenhouse. During hot summer months this can make the room un-livable, so a reflective roof paint is needed.

Reflective paint is often made with aluminum as its reflective substance, allowing for a paint with the traditional consistency to still dry into a silvery, light-reflective covering. Using this coating can not only cool the room below but also weatherproof the roof and prevent costly, time-consuming repairs.

So where exterior paint is concerned, it can certainly offer more practical solutions than just looking good and covering patches of rust, being actively beneficial for the user and the material it is painted on.
