The Ombre Trend

Fashion, beauty, and décor are constantly changing, and sometimes you see things from the past resurfacing or a new concept that has you questioning someone’s taste. Artistic avenues like fashion and beauty tend to share trends like colors, textures and patterns. So it’s no surprise the ombre trend is catching on quickly and blazing a path in all creative aspects. What is ombre? You know that dress you saw last week with a fading pattern? Instead of calling it a fade, it now has the officially name of “ombre.” Ombre is when a color fades into light shades as it moves on.

Home and Clothing: Some people have taken the ombre trend into their home with wall paint, bedding, rugs and paintings. It is definitely a look for those more contemporary and trendy designers as opposed to the more traditional. Ombre is really common in scarfs, tights, knit tops, dresses and sweaters. You won’t find a lot of pants or skirts with the ombre effect.

Weddings: High end wedding gown designers are creating many dresses in pale pinks and blues, a new twist on a white gown that is definitely something to consider. Wedding cakes and invites are using yellows, oranges and purples. The ombre trend at your wedding will definitely give you a very romantic but modern setting.

Hair and Nails: Ombre in the hair world is really big with celebrities. Hollywood heavyweights like Jessica Biel, Julia Roberts, Drew Barrymore and Cindy Crawford are sporting this look. The majority of the celebrities you see with ombre hair tend to have dark brown roots and about half way down through their hair a softer brown, red or blonde begins and ends at the tips. Lots of customers are asking their nail technician to create the ombre look for their finger tips and toes. Choose one darker shade to start with on your thumb, from there pick out lighter shades for each finger and obviously the lightest color on your pinky nail. If you want a single nail ombre look, will take a little more time, but it is definitely worth the wait for this unique and detailed look.
